Orange Magazine is looking for 10 young journalists working with print, video, photo and multimedia to cover the international youth conference “Strengthening ties in youth cooperation”, in the final days before Croatia becomes the newest member of the EU on 1 July, 2013. The conference is organised by the Directorate-General for the Enlargement of the European Commission.
Who are we? Orange Magazine provides journalistic education and supports young journalists by giving them room to explore media and current affairs.

Costs? Travel arrangements will be made by our partner Grayling. Accommodation for two nights and breakfast are covered.

The call is open to young journalists (aged between 18 and 30) from all EU member states, as well as Bosnia and Herzegovina, FYROM, Montenegro, Serbia and Croatia.
Please note that it would be advantageous if participants would be able to produce a story for their home media, as well as content for Orange Magazine’s website.
Orange Magazine is a project of European Youth Press (EYP), an organisation working for the benefit of young journalists in Europe.
The conference will present the unique opportunity to:
• review and discuss the achievements and challenges for youth cooperation in the enlarged EU;
• reflect on European identity;
• explore how we can build further bridges between young people across Europe; and
• share experiences during interactive workshops, Q&A sessions and discussion groups.
Those attending will include Members of the Croatian government, representatives from the European Commission and leading figures from European youth organisations such as the European Youth Forum, the European Students Forum (AEGEE) and the European Youth Press, who we belong to.
Our job will be to report from the conference.
The organizers will provide the Orange Magazine press team with free access to the whole event including opportunities to interview both guest speakers and participants.
The following positions are open for applications:
Responsibilities: The Orange team will produce an online issue of the magazine during the conference to be published on the Orange Magazine website. Each member will have to write at least 1 feature related to the topics of the conference.
Eligibility: In order to apply for the conference you will have to suggest a story idea related to the conference topics (see the application form).
2 MULTIMEDIA JOURNALISTS
Responsibilities: The multimedia team will document the event via Storify, which will be published on the Orange Magazine website and social media.
Eligibility: You will have to demonstrate previous experience in multimedia journalism.
2 VIDEO JOURNALISTS
Responsibilities: The VJs will script, shoot and edit video journalism pieces to be published on the Orange Magazine website. The VJs will be expected to edit their footage in order to prepare them for publishing quality.
Eligibility: You will have to provide your own camera and editing software and demonstrate previous experience in videomaking
Responsibilities: The photographer will take pictures of the event, which will be published on the Orange Magazine website, Facebook page and newsletters. The photographer will be expected to edit his own pictures on Photoshop/Aperture in order to prepare them for publishing quality.
Eligibility: You will have to provide your own camera equipment and demonstrate previous experience in photography.
Please note that social media skills are highly appreciated. You will be expected to tweet and feed our Facebook page during the conference. Audio and video skills are considered an advantage. We expect perfect working and writing knowledge of English and the capacity to work with people from other cultural backgrounds.
